National Space Week Celebrated in Year 5 on October 6th

One Thursday October 6th Year 5 celebrated National Space Week by designing and making balloon rockets, an activity led by Stevenage based space engineering company – Astrium. The teams of 3 were informed of the design brief, all rockets were required to transport 5 diamonds (marbles) along a cable (2 meters of string) from one side of a moon crater to another (the classroom). Congratulations to the winners of the competition!

Mrs Wheelbarrow comes to Year 5

On Thursday 29th September Mrs Wheelbarrow joined Year 5 for a morning of gardening! The children had a lot of fun learning about the life cycle of plants and were given the opportunity to plant various types of seed to take home or keep at school. We hope the seeds are flourishing in these ideal growing conditions!

2RW Design a Road Safety Outfit

The children in 2RW have been busy designing new clothing to wear to help them to be seen when crossing the road. The school’s Eco theme is road safety and the children enjoyed using bright clours and giving their new outfits names.

Year 2 Shape Walk Around School

My Favourite Film is:
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because it was the new version and it was funny and hilarious.
My favourite character in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is Verruca Salt because she is very funny in her posh ascent.
The genre of films I like most are: Comedy movies because I like funny films and because I enjoy it a lot.
I don’t like films that are… I never watch horror films because they scare me a lot. I don’t want to be scared either. I hate horror films at night because then I might get nightmares.
My favourite actor/ actress is: Bridget Mendler because she sings and dances and has been in films and TV programs.
I joined film club because… I enjoy watching films and I like writing reviews.
During film club I am looking forward to: Watching lots more films in Film club.

Used with puppets because the puppets mouths don’t move in time with the person talking and also because I know that the puppet is not real and is very strange.

Bridget Medenler is my favourite actor because when she acts it is like that it’s real also she was my favourite actor in the film Lemonade mouth.

1PH – Thankfulness for Nature

On a very sunny Monday morning at Springmead year 1 went for an autumn walk. We looked at the changing colours on the leaves, found some smooth conkers and their spiky cases and lots of seeds. We even dug up some very small carrots from the garden! We are thinking about Christians celebrating Harvest this week and how we all say thank you for the natural world around us.

Springmead Football Team Kick Off With A Win

After school on Thursday 29th September Springmead football team had their first game of the season. The home match was against local school Panshanger. A large crowd of supporters came to watch a great game which resulted in a hard fought 3-2 win to Springmead. Zach opened the scoring with a lovely strike and Sam soon double the lead with a smart finish. Just before half time Captain Cabhan ran clear through on goal and passed the ball neatly round the stranded goalkeeper. It was a well deserved 3-0 half time lead to Springmead.

However, the second half was a much harder contest as Panshanger made some changes and began to grow in confidence. Adam in goal had to make several excellent saves but was eventually beaten conceding 2-0 goals towards the end. Springmead managed to hang onto their slender lead and were eventual winners 3-2. congratulations to the team.

Man of the match goes to Cabhan who lead by example and gave 100% throughout the game. Well done Cabhan!!!!!
